Japanese cinema has given the world some terrifying characters over the years, not least the stringy-haired ghost girl who appears in Ring and the American re-make The Ring. The plot centres around a cursed videotape that kills whoever watches it one week later. The scene where Sadako (or Samara) approaches the camera and then climbs through the television is one of the most chilling pieces of film I’ve ever seen – small wonder the victims were scared to death!
This costume was once the pure white of a burial shroud - now it is mottled grey and brown from drowning horribly in a well. The only indication that this was once a beautiful dress are the two silvery buttons, and the flared sleeves. Though designed to be over-sized so that it drapes in an ethereal manner, it is elasticated at the back of the waist for an improved fit and has a waist tie. The vintage style of the dress means this costume will be perfect for any ghost or zombie from yesteryear – it would even suit a shabby Victorian poor woman. Just add a long black wig and white face paint and you’ll be ready to haunt the living!
Dress length approximately 131cm / 51.5” – comes to just above ankles on height 5’5”
